NYC!

New York is truly an amazing city, it’s always nice to come back to New York and see the big skyscrapers and pretty lights!

Last Wednesday on the 20th of January I had the chance to visit this amazing city again, even though it’s only for 25 hours but let’s make it worth our while!

Landing at JFK at 07:30 am. We walked out of the airport and the cold air hits us. -3 degrees Celcius! ah it’s nice to feel cold air like this it feels so fresh! After about an hour drive into the city, we finally made it to the hotel! By this time it is already 10 am. Ellen from Netherlands one of the girls who I flew with before to Sydney-Auckland was also on the flight with me. She wanted to go ice skating in Central Park! Sure why not! We met back in the lobby at 10:45 to go for some breakfast at Lindys! I got my yummy eggs and Pancakes! This other girl also joined us to go for ice skating. We walked through beautiful Central Park and found what we wanted! We got a ticket for 11$ and rented skates for 8$ not bad! I was a bit nervous! I didn’t want to fall on my ass and hurt myself! I have been ice skating before but it’s been awhile! So hope all goes well! Three of us girls ice skating  our way in a circle over and over again in the beautiful Central Park! Even if it’s quite cold the sun was shining what a great way to spend our day in New York!

After about half an hour ice skating Ellen and I decided to go to the Chelsea Market. We took the subway and made our way to 18th street. From there we had to walk about 6 blocks to the market on 9th avenue. It such a wonderful sight walking through the streets of NYC with the typical building and their fire escape stairs and big doors! I love it! Just like in the movies! We finally found Chelsea Market its inside a building nice and warm! There were really interesting, cool, trendy shops, where you could buy nice things like jewelry that are handmade or wine shops and different food markets. We were feeling abit cold from our walk outside and decided to have a soup to warm ourselves I got a 10 vegetable soup! (which just has 10 different sorts of veg inside) Delicious! and great vegetables! I don’t eat enough vegetables so this should last me for about a month!

After Chelsea Market, Ellen and I split up and went out own ways! She needed to find one store and I need to find my store!   I walked so much! iI just bought these new boots that I’m wearing for the first time so oww!! I walked all the way to 5th Avenue 22nd street! Long walk! but then I saw it! The Flat Iron Building! From there I walked through Madison Park. Then made my way to Bed Bath and Beyond just a few more blocks away! Here I found my Foot Massage machine!! and just for 75$ I love these January sales! Happy as ever and with sore feet, I took a taxi and headed back to the hotel! Even riding in a a New York Taxi was a unreal feeling! There was a plastic wall dividing the driver and the passenger with a little window he can slide open, a small tv screen playing Jimmy Fallon! and a small machine to pay with your card! wow! The taxi ride was only 12$ not bad! if I’d known the taxi was so cheap! Around 4pm I got back to my room! so excited to try my machine!! sitting on the sofa turned on the TV, turned on the machine! Ahhh! so nice after such a long walk this is what I needed! With the shoes we wear for work and for walking up and down in the cabin our feet get very sore so after flights I’ve always wished I had a machine to massage my feet after work! Now I finally have one! After the massage I crawled into bed under the warm sheets and watched some tv and fell asleep!

I woke up around 7pm feeling very hungry! mmhhm NY Pizza would be amazing right now! I got dressed and made my way downstairs. Rays Pizza is only across the road but as soon as I got downstairs and saw the lights shining from Times Square I thought I’d make a quick trip there! It only a 10 minute walk! I took some pictures made videos! Enjoyed the big lights! and big screens! American Eagle was calling my name! So I popped in to have a look! Bought some nice underwear! I love their underwear from Aerie it’s so comfortable! Heading back to the hotel I stopped by a souvenir shop. Here I found my new PJ Shirt! from the Big Bang theory the song they sing to Sheldon when he is feeling sick! haha! just had to buy it! ok now I will really go back to the hotel! Well buy my pizza first! Rays Pizza! The best NY Pizza in town!! I got to big slices of cheese Pizza to take away! and I’m off back to my hotel room! got ready for bed! turned on the TV great Parent Trap is on! Perfect! Enjoying my bid NY cheesy pizza oh yummy! I wish I had one for now! I’m feeling so hungry just thinking about it! Then to bed so I can get up for the early 7 am wake up call!

New York Thank You again for the amazing layover, this will not be the last time I see you!  and Thank you readers!

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!!

Hello there my good people!

So last Friday I had my flight to Kuala Lumpur. The flight was nice and easy 7 hours and people were very friendly! I was surprised I was the most senior in economy!! the other 6 crew were all just about the graduate! but that’s how it goes..after being with Emirates for almost a year now. It’s nice to teach the newbies what you know!  😝

We landed safley and on time in KL at 9am it was about a 1 hour drive to the hotel. When we got to the hotel we already made plans to go out and see the Batu Caves! we decided to meet at 12:00 in the lobby! There was me and a girl from Turkey, guy from Spain and FO from Italy, we waited for 2 others to come but they didn’t show up after 10mins so they probably fell asleep. We took a taxi and made our way to the Batu Caves. It was quite a long drive and there was so much traffic for a Saturday afternoon.

After almost 1 hour drive and 60 Malaysian Ringgits which is like 13 Euros we arrived! It was absolutely amazing there is a huge golden Murugan Statue! and behind it 272 steps leading towards the limestone caves! The steps are quite narrow and looking down for so long makes you a bit dizzy well it did for me! and hey! I had no rest after the flight so don’t judge! it was quite a hike up! my legs were shaking and I was out of breath by the time we made it to the top! this is the time I wish I had brought water with me!! PARCHED! they view was amazing and the caves were smelly! there was a lot of construction going on inside the cave.. not sure what they were building some part of a stage or something. It’s a very big an open space inside and very high cave walls. There were more steps that went up a bit further.. this is where we saw the crazy Monkeys! There were Mikey’s everywhere!! and they were stealing food off people! and fighting eachother for the food! it was so funny to watch! we tried taking selfies with the monkeys without them biting out ears off! it was so much fun! we slowly made our way down.. my legs shaking and the narrow stairs didn’t make it easy. You really had to concentrate otherwise you’d rubble all the way down 272 steps! not fun!

The FO and Turkish girl decided they wanted to go into the dark smelly Batcave  where they also have snakes and spiders! nope not for me! no thank you! and for 45 mins walk through that darkness no way!! I’m way to scared to do that!! So the Spanish guy and I looked at the money’s for a bit longer and headed down the rest of the steps. At the bottom we finally got water! and bought some souvenirs and just sat and waited for the other 2 to arrive. They finally arrived and it’s already almost 3pm we went back in the taxi the same guy he was so kind as to wait for us! We said we wanted to go to this market.. I really cannot remember the name of it.. but on the way the driver said he would stop at this nice place we could take a picture with the Petronas Towers. We all fell asleep in the taxi! after that exhausting hike/flight!  When we arrived all dazed and zombie like trying to figure out where we were we got out the taxi to take some amazing picture! it really is a good view! we kept driving towards the market after 75 ringgits later yay!

Time too get some food! there was this soya bean milk stand! ooohh yummmyyyyy! it was so good! it tastes like the one I used to have in Taiwan! We were very hungry so we went in search for a restaurant. I would’ve preferred to have the street food but the others weren’t too keen on this. shame! anyways this restaurant we went to was awfully terrible!! please nobody go there! I don’t the name of it but it was near the end of the road of the market on the right side! only the rice and noodles were good! the steamed dumplings were the worst! I had to tell them to bring it back and steam it more but no use! the dumpling was so hard it was like chewing cardboard and the inside pork was so pink it didn’t look right! the chicken satay was so terrible it had fat parts and hairy parts and I don’t know which part of the chicken! YUCK! anyways after that awful food! We went for a foot massage! 1 hour foot massage with free shoulder Massage for 50 Ringgets! HA! why not!? that’s 10 euros!

We made our way back to the hotel. The other went back to their rooms. Of course I was tired too but it was only 6:30 and I still wanted to walk to the Petronas Towers and have a closer look! I mean when you’re already in Kuala Lumpur! The Turkish girl decided to join me as well so we made it way there. From the hotel it was only about a 10 minute walk not bad! It was slowly getting dark and we could get better pictures with the Towers by night. We made a quick walk inside the mall but didn’t get anything we were way to tired for shopping. shopping requires too much concentration! We walked back to the hotel! finally got to the room it was around 8.. only. I was feeling hungry again so I ordered some room service! this better be better than that other horrible place! I turned on the tv laid in bed..2 seconds later .. I was asleep! the doorbell woke me up almost 9pm that took them long enough but I would’ve preferred to just continue sleeping now instead of eating oh well! My yummy yummy chicken nasi goerang has arrived! 😆 and it is delicious! 👍 now I can get a good nights sleep!

The next morning wake up call was at 7:30. I put my alarm on for 7:5 so I could finish writing my postcard for my dad. And go to the lobby earlier and get a croissant for the ride to the airport. The flight back was a bit more tought as it was a day flight and most of the passengers were awake! but after 6.5 hours we finally reached Dubai! ah now I’ll have 2 days off to relax!

I realized that I didn’t even post what my January Roster!

Dublin, Ireland

hey everyone sorry for the late update!
I hope y’all had a good start to the new year 2016! let it be the best year yet!

I spent my New Years Eve in Dubai. We stayed in the apartment out on the porch with some friends and we had some drinks ordered some food and played some games watched the fire of the hotel and the Burj Kahlifa fireworks! It was an entertaining evening, but I couldn’t stay up long I went to bed around 2 for my flight to Dublin the next day!

Friday 1st 2016

It was really windy and raining arriving into Dublin airport the landing runway looked really scary but our captain still made a great landing. I thought about going to this place called Temple bar that evening. But it was just horrible weather outside and we were a bit tired after that 8 hour flight. The others said whoever wants we’ll meet down in the hotel bar and restaurant for some dinner and drinks. I arrived downstairs and the Captain,FO and 3 other crew were there already. I ordered this delicious sweet and chili chicken with salad yummy!!and a glass of red wine to help me sleep! I was pretty tired and left about 2 hours after.. I wanted to start the day early tomorrow!

The next day woke up around 7 am couldn’t sleep no more so I watched some tv and slowly got ready to go down and have breakfast! There were other crew also downstairs already. I asked what they wanted to do after breakfast but most of them just wanted to stay in the hotel and relax.

The weather was good not the best but it wasn’t raining so that’s good!  And it wasn’t that cold either I was wearing 4 layers and I started feeling hot! I headed out and walked to the city center. I wanted to go to the Trinity College of Dublin to see the old library part of this old library was filmed in the Harry Potter movie!! I arrived at the Trinity College in front of the old library and there was a note that they wouldn’t open until Wednesday so that’s in five days OK great! so I just took some pictures around that college and there was a tree that kind of looked like the whomping willow!

I walked towards O’Connor Street bought a souvenir and a postcard to send daddy then I made my way to Penny’s  which is an Irish Primark! YAY! I spent around three hours in Penny’s and ended up with two big full shopping bags! Yippie! Just hope it’ll fit in my suitcase!

The sun was coming out its already about 3pm  but I couldn’t walk back to the hotel it’s like around 15 minute walk and my feet were hurting and it was just way too much to carry! so I got in the taxi and it was only €12 not bad. The taxi driver was so nice he was telling me about Dublin and Ireland and about the different buildings that were in front of us he was so friendly.

I go back to the hotel room, emptied all my shopping bags and started to cut off the tags! and stuffing my new clothes and shoes  in my suitcase! luckily I had just enough space! I had a nice warm shower and ordered some room service I was feeling hungry again after that big shopping spree and have a little nap before the wake up call. Got up and got ready to go for the 20:55 flight back to Dubai!
