My Last flight.

Hi, everyone and Happy New Year!

The time has come I’ve completed my last flight with Emirates. My last 2 flights were to Zürich. I bid for this flight not exactly on these dates but its better than nothing. I was able to bring a full suitcase with my clothes, things, junk.

26th of December, I was able to celebrate the last day of Christmas with my family. There was a little get to together at my Auntie Lucia’s house. It was super nice to see my family during the Christmas time and to catch up and since I arrived straight from the Airport they were able to see me in my uniform for the last time.

30th of December, I had another flight to Zürich but had to depart 2 hours before New Years! Of course, we still made the most of it on the flight for New Year and my last duty flight with Emirates!

Here is my final Flight Diary: (only duty flights, not including holidays)

flightdiary-2016

Taipei, Taiwan!

Super excited!! I finally have a flight to Taipei! It’s been last December 2015 since I last went! And also I’m going to see my dad again. When my dad came to Dubai he went straight to Taipei for a 10-day vacation and I am to meet him there and take him back on my flight to Dubai where he then will continue on to Zürich.

So I arrived at the hotel at 18:30. The plan was to meet in the lobby at 19:30. My dad is staying in Tian Mu where we used to live. But it’s only about a 20-minute ride with The Taipei Metro MRT. As usual, he is always on time! Even 5 minutes earlier! So we take the MRT and head towards Ximen. Even though Shilin is the bigger and more popular Night Market the Ximending Night Market is the closest to the hotel.

So for dinner tonight STREET FOOD!! the best! First, I found, was Cong You Bing with Egg (A scallion pancake is a Chinese savory, unleavened flatbread folded with oil and minced scallions. Unlike Western pancakes, it is made from dough instead of batter.) And they put sweet Soya Sauce! YUM! Second on the street food menu! Chicken popcorn with onions and garlic. I’m going to regret this garlic later tonight. My dad first wanted to go eat at a restaurant but I just wanted street food so he always ate some things that I got and he really enjoyed the food too. And of course, I had to get my all time favorite Tapioca Milk Tea! We looked around the shops and did some shopping. I bought 3 pairs of shoes! I love shoes in Taiwan! They are so cheap and so comfortable! It was getting late already and we did a lot of walking around the night market and I was feeling tired after an 8-hour flight. So my dad went back to his hotel in Tian-mu and I went back to min 2 stops away. I had a shower and got ready for bed. But it was one of that night where I just couldn’t fall asleep and I was also getting that garlic taste in my mouth and it was making me awfully thirsty.

Waking up at 9 am in the morning I felt like a hadn’t slept at all! My dad is arriving at the hotel at 9:30. We’ve decided to hike up Elephant Mountain. It’s funny that we’ve lived in Taiwan for so many years and didn’t know about this beautiful hike! It had a spectacular view and it was a very clear day! I really recommend anyone visiting Taiwan to take the time to hike up this trail its about 30 mins hike up and the view overlooks Taipei City and Taipei 101 all the way to the mountains in the back. It’s just breathtaking!  After 100 pictures later we hiked back down and took the metro back to the hotel to get out of our hiking clothes. My dad brought his suitcase this morning as we will be joining me on the crew bus tonight to go to the Airport.

We took the MRT to Zhishan station.I really like riding the MRT its cheap, fast, clean and there is a beautiful view of Taiwan! We had to sort out some bank stuff which ended up taking 2.5 hours. So we finished around 16:30 I wanted to get a haircut because they do a really nice treatment but since we were running out of time I decided to just get my hair done in Dubai. We had a little coffee break at Wendels and then walked up to the Tian Mu intersection. I went to get my favorite Bao Zi Pork Buns from where I always used to get it! I was still hungry so I got a plate of rice, vegetables and pork chop! YUMMY! I miss the food in Taiwan so much! Everything just tastes so good! You don’t need to go to nice restaurants all the good foods are the local street foods!! It was getting a late, wake-up call is at 8 pm and it was already 6 pm so we took the MRT back to the hotel. We got back at 6:45 so I could take a shower and lay down a bit before the flight. But I didn’t really sleep. I was still so hyped about Taipei I couldn’t just go to sleep.

The flight back to Dubai was 9 hours and 10 minutes. It was a really easy flight only half full and my dad really enjoyed his VIP Service! We got to have crew seat rest for 1 hour 50 minutes which really helped because I felt like I hadn’t slept since I left Dubai. I’m glad my dad got a chance to fly with me while I was on duty so now all my family members were able to experience a VIP Service with me! We landed early into Dubai which I was very Thankful for I could not wait to get into my comfy bed for a long sleep. My dad, on the other hand, had to wait an hour longer so that means 4 hours until the 8 am boarding for Zürich. But he always finds a way to occupy himself with all the newspapers!

Thank you, Papi, for the great layover in Taiwan! I really miss it so much I can’t wait until I can go back for holidays!

Here’s a pic of my new haircut!!

Thank you all for reading! I hope you enjoy it. Sorry if I rushed through it but I actually have to go for my turnaround flight to Tehran now!

Columbo and Munich!

9 December Columbo

We arrived at the hotel in Columbo at 9 am. The first thing I do is book an appointment for a full body massage at the spa for 10 am. After my lovely 1 hour and 15 minutes of massage, I head over to the pool for some more relaxation. I meet 2 other girls at the poolside and find out they are from Qatar they are only here for 12 hours while Emirates have a 24-hour layover. We talked a lot about the differences between the 2 companies. I don’t want to say anything bad about any company but I am very happy I chose Emirates lets just say living in Dubai you have much more freedom than when you’re living in Saudi Arabia. Some of the other crew from Emirates were also arriving and we all had a nice chat. I fell asleep at the pool for a while. After 4 hours by the pool falling in and out of sleep its time to go back to the room. I didn’t do much else on the layover I just chilled in the room and watched some TV ordered Nasi Goreng and fell asleep like a baby panda until the early wake-up call at 7 am. Time to go back to Dubai. I really enjoyed this relaxing layover!
11 December Munich

As I am leaving Dubai in January I am slowly starting to bring my things home and sell my furniture. So going to Munich I  pack my suitcase full of things. My boyfriend Simon will be meeting me in Munich and take my things back to Switzerland. I arrived around 9 pm at the hotel and for Simon, it’s a working night and a 3-hour drive to Munich. So he arrived around 12 at midnight. I was already asleep when he texted me he was in the lobby. The next day we were super excited to go to the Christmas market together. The Christmas Market in Munich is really beautiful. We had out breakfast/lunch there all different types of foods. We had Hot Chocolate, Gluhwein, sausages, flatbreads, fried potatoes with apple sauce! All so yummy! Of course some shopping. We went back to the hotel around 3 I wanted to stop by the supermarket to get some stuff. Wake up call was at 6 pm I was feeling very cold so, I had a nice hot bath and a little nap before the flight back to Dubai. Thank You, Simon, for driving all the way to spend 24 hours with me in Munich! xx

Mini Staycation in Dubai!

Hi there sorry again for the delay!! So much to catch up on!

After my London flight, I had 5 days off. My dad Aunt Lucie and Uncle Paul came for a week holiday in Dubai I decided to spend my days off with them. They stayed at the Jumeirah Beach Area. I packed my small cabin bag to go stay there with them. So they arrived on Sunday 4th December I went to the Arrivals to pick them up at 8 am. We took a taxi to JBR and we will be staying at the Mövenpick Hotel. We headed straight for the beach. So on the website it said direct beach access but when we got there, there was a construction site in front of the hotel and a narrow path to a public beach it was very disappointing. When we got to the beach they had towels for guests from the hotel but not really lounges they were more like mats with a back rest. It was ridiculous. So we made most of the day and enjoyed the sun. Later that evening we went to JBR the walk and had some dinner at a nice Italian place.

The next morning we went up to the pool but when we got there no sun. It was being blocked by the tall building behind us. So we decided to still lay there for a but to plan our week. I didn’t have any breakfast so I ordered eggs benedict! delicious!Around 1 we made our way to Dubai Mall/ Burj Khalifa. As the Dubai Mall is so big and if you want to go up the Burj Khalifa you’ll need to spend a whole day here. So Paul and Lucia went up to the Burj Khalifa. My dad and I have already been up there so we sat down for a bit and I enjoyed some lunch at Le Pain Quotidien YUM I had avocado shrimps on top of a sourdough bread!. After this, we all went to take some daytime pictures of the Burj Khalifa outside Later we went to see the Waterfall, Aquarium and did some shopping surprisingly we all bought something. It was getting darker outside and also time for dinner. So we head over to the Restaurants outside by the Dancing Fountains. I usually go to Sammach they have fresh seafood and Arabic foods. We enjoyed a nice dinner I ordered the typical hummus and tabouleh and my favorite spicy potato cubes we also got some shrimps my dad and I shared these dishes. My Aunt and Uncle had a grilled fish with some rice.

The next 2 days after we went on the Hop on Hop off bus tour. It’s the easiest was for a tourist to see things and it’s my 3rd time on this bus!! But I still enjoyed it. I will be leaving Dubai next month so it’s nice to see everything again. I’ll make this short. The first day of the tour: -Mall of Emirates to see the skiing slope! -Old Dubai, Dubai Museum, Arabian Tea House, Old Souq, Take the Abra (old boat 1 Dirhams) across the Spice and Gold Souq. We took a taxi to my apartment which is only 10 mins away. So I could show them where I lived and we went tot the roof top to watch the beautiful sunset. We then grabbed a taxi from there and made our way to Souq Madinat for a view of the Burj Al Arab and some nice dinner.

The 2nd day of the Hop on Hop off bus we did the Kite beach and Jumeirah tour. We also headed out onto the Palm Atlantis. We got back to the hotel around 4 and decided to go to the pool. My dad and I planned to go tonight for the Dubai Opera to see the Nutcracker On Ice. I also was going straight back to my apartment after this because I have a rest day on Thursday before my next flight to Columbo on Friday. The Opera house was very beautiful and the entrance outside there was a dramatic water dance. The Opera went for 2 hours with a half and hour break. It was no singing or talking just pure classical music from Tchaikovsky! My dad also really enjoyed it! I am super glad we went it was a perfect ending to my little Staycation!

Thank You Lucia, Paul and Papi for coming to Dubai!
I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!

London ,UK

1 December 2016

I started off the month with a beautiful layover in London! We arrived at the hotel around 8:30 and decided to have a nap before we headed out for some London sightseeing. It’s been a while since I last went to London city so I decided for my last roster that I would go and see the city again. We met in the lobby after a nice 2-hour nap which really helped a lot. I went with 2 girls from Korea and Malaysia and a guy from Lebanon. We’ve all been to London before but just like me, it’s been a while.

We took the express train from London Heathrow to Paddington station which took us only 20 minutes. We took the tube to Westminster Abbey to see Big Ben and the London Eye. All of us were feeling very hungry so decided to stop by this crowded pub/restaurant for some delicious Fish & Chips! The other 2 Korean and Lebanese were very tired and just wanted to go to Primark and back to the hotel. So the Malaysian girl and I kept on going.

We walked around Westminister Abbey for a bit then took the tube to Tower Hill to see the famous London Bridge ( Tower Bridge) It was really a beautiful day sunny but still cold. At least it wasn’t raining! After this beautiful sunset view of London Bridge, we made our way to Oxford street for shopping. The lights were so beautiful they had wonderful Christmas decorations. There was also fake snow coming from above the buildings which made it look even more beautiful. We stopped by a few shops and had some cookie snacks to stock up some energy and did some shopping in Primark. After this long day, we headed back to the Hotel. We were very tired and cold and our feet were aching from all that walking.

As soon as I got to the Hotel I was super hungry but also tired. So, I ordered an onion soup and caesar salad and had a nice hot bath until the food arrived. After this, I pretty much fell asleep like a baby until the wake-up call at 6 am. Time to go back to Dubai!

Germany. Munich and Hamburg!

23 November. Munich.

I didn’t do a lot in Munich as I wasn’t feeling so well. So as soon we arrived at the hotel at 8pm I went straight to bed I turned the Tv on but I fell asleep straight away. The next day I woke up at 7am but I still felt so exhausted. I was having one of those super lazy days so I fell asleep again until 11. This time I overslept and it made me even more sleepy. I forced myself to get out of bed and go outside for a walk. On my way to the supermarket, there was a small Christmas market selling fruits, veg, and sausages so I got a sausage for breakfast/lunch. Later I went to the supermarket to do my grocery shopping and went back to the hotel for a hot bath and little lie in before the 6pm wake up call back to Dubai.

27 November .Hamburg.

We arrived in  Hamburg around 8pm same timing as Munich. I met up with the crew downstairs for dinner. I enjoyed a red wine Chanti and a tomato risotto. We had a nice chat and laugh but slowly one by one we were falling asleep on the table. So headed to bed at 10pm. The next morning I woke up at 8am had a nice shower and got ready for breakfast. The breakfast in Hamburg is always good I always enjoy the breakfast here and there weren’t a lot of people around so no queuing. After breakfast around 10 am I made my way out towards the city. It’s about a 10-minute walk towards the lake. It such a beautiful sunny day but still cold -3 degrees celsius. Hamburg is a really lovely city but I have never noticed before like I noticed that day that there was a lot of homeless people almost every corner. There were a lot of Christmas markets and it was such a nice Christmas feeling with Christmas songs playing in the background. I got a hot chocolate and walked around the markets. I stopped by in H&M to buy an extra pair of socks because my feet were so cold and I ended up buying 2 sweaters and a dress as well. Oh well, gotta enjoy some shopping once in a  while as well. I got a crepe with Nutella by on of the stand  so delicious.

I made my way back to the hotel as it was already 2pm I want to get some rest before the flight back to Dubai. I stopped my this Asian takeaway and got some udon noodles for dinner. Back at the hotel I had my dinner watched some tv and went to sleep. I woke up about 1 hour before the wake-up call But couldn’t sleep anymore. This timing to fly back to Dubai is really tough because it’s a night flight. Even though most of the customers are sleeping. It also tempting for us to fall asleep. It was a very light load only 140 passengers and 9 crew in the economy class so we got the work done really fast and ended up trying not to fall asleep for the next 4 hours of the flight. We finally  arrived in Dubai at 6 in the morning. Time to go to bed? This is crew life.

Stockholm, Sweden!

Hey!

Super Sorry for the delay! I’ve been wanting to update my blog but kept on forgetting too!

18 November

Arrived in cold -3 Degrees Celcius Stockholm. The hotel is very central so no need for us to take the train or anything. We arrived at 12 noon and it was raining but the 4 of us still decided to go out and explore this beautiful city before it gets dark at 3. I was supposed to have another Oslo flight but I swapped for this Stockholm. We walked to the Old Town and the Royal Palace. We weren’t allowed to go in the Royal Palace because there was a funeral taking place. In the Old Town, there was already a Christmas market so we enjoyed a hot mulled wine with gingerbread cookies. For dinner, we went to this cute little local restaurant. I had Sweedish meatballs with mash potatoes with loganberries. After dinner, we had a bit more of a walk around and found a Belgium waffle place and enjoyed a hot chocolate and Belgium waffle with Nutella! Later we went back to the hotel for an early nights sleep.

The next morning I got up around 9am and went for the breakfast buffet. There were so many people and a long queue. It was weekend and I guess they had some kind of conference so it was really busy. After breakfast, i went back to the room to find a message on the TV screen saying that the flight has been delayed by 1 hour. So the wake-up call has changed from 10:30 to 11:30! Fantastic I got ready and headed out! I wanted to go see the new part of Stockholm. It was mostly shops after shops and 5 H&M at every corner! I walked around and went down to the harbor and back towards the Old Town. It wasn’t raining today so it did make it easier to take pictures without holding an umbrella. It was time to go back to the hotel and get ready for the full flight back to Dubai.

Oslo, Norway

Hey there!

Yesterday midnight I came back from Oslo, Norway. We arrived in Norway at 10:30 in the morning and of course we were all super tired. The flight from Dubai departed at 7am so that meant 5 am E-Gate opens and 3:50 I put my alarm clock. So, as usual, I couldn’t sleep. I slept maybe 2-3 hours. All the other crew wanted to go for a rest I did too but then again I bid for Oslo and it’ll get dark early. So a Thai crew and I decided to go explore the city together. We had to take the train about a 20-minute ride for 92 Norwegian Krones to the city. It was really cold 4 degrees Celcius. It’s been a while since I have felt this cold before but the air was so nice and refreshing. There was also snow which was so nice to see again its been almost 2 years since I last saw snow when I went skiing in Switzerland.

So when we got off at the National Theatre Station and from there walked to the Royal Palace. We saw the changing of the guards and walked around the gardens. We walked down Karl Johans Gate and passed all the shops and restaurant it was a Sunday so a lot of the shops were closed. We tried to go looking for the Harbour so we could also see the Opera House. We somehow just couldn’t walk there. It was too cold so we headed back to find somewhere we could eat some local food. After walking around we could only find cafes or burger places. We were really hungry and cold and ended up going to TGI Fridays. HAHA, I know. And we were talking about how tourist goes to burger places instead of going to local restaurants and we ended up at TGI Fridays ourselves!! So after a few Mozzarella Sticks and a Bacon and Cheese Burger later it was time to go to bed. We made our way to the Central Station.

We made our way to the Central Station and stopped by a souvenir shop. Got a postcard and a magnet. We got to the Station and onto the train. We arrived at the Airport station and walked to our hotel but it wasn’t our hotel! There were 2 Radisson Blu Hotels. We thought we just came through another entrance and when we asked at the reception they told us we have to go on the other side of the road. So we walked back out into the cold dreaming about a hot shower and warm bed. We got to the Airport station again and ended up buying some things in 7-11 and made our way the correct way back to the hotel.

I’m sad I couldn’t see much. I would’ve liked to see the garden with the sculptures and the Viking museum and the harbor. But there just wasn’t enough time and energy. So hopefully maybe during the summer time, I will make another visit!

November..

Hey there! I am extremely sorry for the delay! It has been 3 weeks I know! but I do have a good reason! I was on holiday!

So the last time where I left off was when I went to Beijing. After that amazing layover in Beijing, I had a flight to Rome again. I will try and make this as short as possible.

22 October

In Rome, of course, I had to go out and see the beautiful city again. I went out with the crew to see the Colosseum and the Vatican city. By the time we got to the Vatican city it was after 5pm and we couldn’t go inside anymore which was ok because it was still beautiful fro the outside. Later we made our way to the Trevi fountain and had dinner at a nearby restaurant. This time I had a delicious Lasagna. We got back to the hotel around 9:30 in the evening all really tired from so much walking. Rome is really a beautiful city, of course, I wish I had more time to see everything but I’m glad I saw the main things to tick off my bucket list.

24th October – 5th November

Holiday time! My mom flew in from Taiwan and is joining me to go for a 2 week holiday in Switzerland.

I will just say a few things here and add some pictures here as it will take too long to go through all the days! We visited Zürich and did some sightseeing and got som delicious Luxemburgerli treats very popular from Sprüngli and a must try when you come visit Zürich. Later we met with my sister and went for dinner at Zeughauskeller which is a great place where local people bring tourist to eat good swiss food! We also went to visit the restaurant Aesher in Ebenalp Appenzell. It’s very famous and even appeared in the National Geographic magazine. It was a beautiful Autumn day I really enjoyed it I can’t wait to go there again for a proper hike!

29th October

That time of the year again where you turn 1 year older! I can’t believe I am already 26! How time flies! I’m so glad I am able to celebrate my birthday with my family who means the world to me! We started the day off with a spa day with my mom and my sister. Later made ourselves ready for the dinner we’ll be having at my boyfriend Simon’s Parents restaurant. I chose to do it there so at least we would also be able to spend time with them. And so that Simon could also be there. Since it was Saturday night and he had to work. My sister Christina did an amazing job with the decorations and the cake! Simon and his dad Philip did an amazing job in the kitchen everybody enjoyed dinner! On the Menu was:
Pumpkin Soup
Nut lettuce with Bacon and Egg bits
Pork Filet in Puff Pastry with Potato Gratin and Vegetables
Desert Surprise!
I had a great evening thank you to all my family members who joined.

So happy to see I had the best views on my Birthday! Thank You!

unspecified

The next few days were very relaxing just visiting a few places and going for beautiful autumn walks. I love Autumn it is absolutely the most beautiful season!

On the 6th of November, my mom and I returned back to Dubai. My mom will be staying with me for 2 more weeks before she goes back to Taiwan. Holidays as usual always come to an end. It was as usual so good to be back home I am truly missing it so much and feeling more and more homesick. But for now, its back to work on Monday I already had my flight to Frankfurt Germany. I didn’t do much just walk around a bit and did some grocery shopping!

Here is my November Roster!

  • Frankfurt, Germany- 24 Hours Layover
  • Oslo, Norway -25 Hours Layover
  • Stockholm, Sweeden-24 Hours Layover
  • Munich, Germany- 24 Hours Layover
  • Hamburg, Germany-24 Hours Layover

I happy with my roster.. not so much with so many german flights but because I am a German speaker I’m not surprised. I’m very happy with Oslo and Stockholm I bid for these flights as I have always wanted to go here and I can finally tick it off my bucket list!

Thank You all so much for reading!
